Month Two - CHECK!!!

Month two has decided to end itself on Superbowl Sunday. Seems as good as any other milestone marker. Lots of men in tight clothes running around for money and jewelry, Something I would like to find myself doing someday soon.

So, for those following, this is the end of my 2nd month since bariatric surgery. I blogged last month about the need to make changes in my exercise regimen (OK, let's be honest, start one for gosh sake). Since last months blog I have been able to achieve a walk of 2.0 miles without to much huffing and puffing.

Then, I added some 1lb weights to the routine for my arms.  I even laid down one evening  and attempted sit ups. Felt a bit creepy and pushed on my surgery openings, so...I will revisit abdomen stuff here in a few more weeks.

To be clear, I in no means did my exercise every day or for that matter even 5 times a week!  But I did get out there and moved at least 2x a week. So, my goal for this next month is 3x a week. Seems doable, right?

So, for month two I think the "ah Ha" moment is this,  I have had a few folks approach me and whisper words of encouragement or compliments, and that has been another surprise lesson for me - I suck at accepting a compliment.

I have always had a very hard time with just accepting a compliment and not feeling an urge to turn it into; a story, a joke, or minimize the compliment, or become sarcastic. I am having to learn how to just say Thank You.   That's it, Thanks!  Why is that so freaking hard?  But, it seems to be for me.

So, for those who have offered your kind words, If I get a little "Erkle" on you, please know I'm working on accepting a compliment for what it is and allowing myself to feel proud of the hard work I'm doing.

Ok, now onto other area's of vanity... My hair.   So far it has not started thinning!  YEA!  It could be the obsessive massaging I am doing to my scalp and the Nioxin shampoo? Not sure, but hoping I can keep my hair. And speaking of hair and vanity; for hitting my 1st 25 lb milestone I purchased a Groupon to have Glamour lashes put on!

It was a 1 1/2 hour process of making small talk with a lady from Brazil, while she (one by one) glues 125 eye lashes on you, to each eye!  Talk about detail, but when she was done I had a moment of feeling like a Disney princess when I saw the long lashes on my eyes. Then you pull the mirror back and see the whole picture and the Princess moment turns into a wow...my 45 year old eyes don't look so bad. But, the lashes were/ are a fun treat and I've enjoyed not having to apply mascara each day (OK, to be honest...I never really put on mascara, so the whole fake eye lash thing is a 100% gain). I'm Not sure what I will do for my next 25lb milestone...I will keep an eye on Groupon and keep you posted.

 Month Two Recap:

Weight loss this month was SLOW.
Started 239
Ended 231.5
Overall loss as of today 27.5  (I had an 11 day period where no weight came off At ALL. Very frustrating)
The nausea is still a problem, but isn't all controlling.

Here I am down 23 lbs at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art.  Duncan took the picture of me!!

So, that's it folks.  Not real exciting stuff here, but it really is a new life I'm working on.  It's hard work but I'm enjoying it and feel blessed to be able to have so many people supporting me!
